Primary Contacts

Dennis Lettenmaier Professor, Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering
Dennis leads the Hydrology Group, and supervises the current research towards improving streamflow forecasting throughout the western US.
Andrew Wood, Senior Scientist, 3TIER, Inc. (Seattle) / Affiliate Professor, Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Andy created and ran the UW westwide seasonal hydrologic forecast system as part of his doctoral research (ending in 2003) and further developed it, conducted all forecasts, and ran the system until approximately 2006, when he transitioned responsibility for forecasting, system expansion and maintenance to post-docs and research staff working under Dr. Lettenmaier. Since 2006, Andy has provided training and advising to researchers involved in the effort.
Francisco Munoz, Research Associate, Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Francisco now runs the westwide seasonal forecast system.

Other Collaborators

George Thomas, Research Staff, Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
George, who also serves as the current VIC Administrator, is helping to migrate the forecasting system to a Linux cluster and to extend the automation of the system. As part of this effort, he has helped implement a daily-updating analysis of observed SWE data, and is implementing the daily updating scripts related to a hydrologic nowcast over the forecast domain.
Xiaodong Zeng, Research Scientist, Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Xiaodong (David) is assisting in forecast product automation and forecast production, and will be responsible for CPC-based forecasts, before taking on other research aspects of the forecasting project.
Kathy Devlin, Temporary Research Staff, Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Kathy provided technical and graphic design expertise for the new website.
