Arkansas and Red River Basins Dataset

This file describes data currently available on our anonymous ftp server. Data made available was originally used by Fayez Abdulla in his Ph.D. thesis, Regionalization of a Macroscale Hydrological Model, University of Washington, July 1995. USGS Stream Flow Data

The file ArkRedSF.tar.gz (1.2 Megs), contains USGS streamflow records. Data is from the 40 small basins Fayez used to calibrate and verify the model.

All of the available basin boundary DLGs are also available in Basins.tar (26624). The basins are stored as DLGs, in a lat-long projection.

Surface Airways Data

The file ArkRedSA.tar.gz (2.5 Megs) contains wind, pressure, temperature, cloud cover, and relative humidity data from 25 (26 for cloud cover) surface airways stations. The stations locations and names are as follows:

Source code for programs discussed in this document are included in the file sawd.source.tar (size 19295), while the necessary information files are included in sawd.runfiles.tar (size 3320).

STATSGO Soils Data

The file ArkRedHD.tar.gz (1.1 Megs) contains the extracted soil texture (from STATSGO data). Individual soil files are:

  1. sand_arkred: in percent
  2. clay_arkred: in percent
  3. silt_arkred: in percent
  4. bulk_density_arkred
  5. pm_arkred: soil permeability
  6. awc_arkred: Available water capacity
  7. hgb_arkred: hydrologic group B
  8. hgd_arkred: hydrologic group D
  9. hgc_arkred: hydrologic group C

these files were created using an Albers projection with a 2 Km resoultion. The following header should be appended to the start of the file for use with GRASS (GIS):

These data files were created using the program soil_regional.f. For more information about the data files, please consult the program header.
