ARC/INFO Utility Programs
The gridded ARC/INFO soil parameter files used by VIC are very convienent to generate from ARC/INFO but can make adjusting parameters during calibration a nightmare. To simplify the process, we have prepared a set of programs and scripts for generating the parameters, and stored them in the compressed tar file basin_prep.tgz, also available on the download page, under "Arc/Info Utility Basin Preparation Programs".
These scripts and programs include:
set_basin_param.c:
This program sets parameters in grid cells activated in the run mask grid to the given value and outputs a new gridded parameter file.
multiply_basin_param.c:
This program multiplies parameters in grid cells activated in the run mask grid by the given value and outputs a new gridded parameter file.
sum_basin_param.c:
This program computes the sum and average of parameters in grid cells activated in the run mask grid and outputs the statistics to the screen. Note that this program does not account for variations in grid cell size.
