Arkansas - Red River Basin Data Updates

When Fayez orginally compiled this database for his Ph.D. thesis work, the meteorological information extended only through 1993. The files described on this page will extend that data through 1994 or 1995, depending on the dataset.

Surface Airways Data:

The file ArkRed.SAWD.ext.tar.gz contains hourly surface airways data from the following stations:

Filenames are constructed as: CCC{C}BBEE.asc, where:

• CCC{C} is the station code,
• BB is the beginning year of the data archive, and
• EE is the ending year of the archive.

• example: nm19294.asc ( Albuquerque Intl Airport: Code NM1, from 1992 to 1994)

The first line in each file contains the NCDC station abbreviation.

The second line is the header describing the parameters that follow. All subsequent lines contain data for the specified time step. The parameters included in the files are as follow:

The normal coverage period of data in these files is 01/1992-11/1994, but the period 02/1992-05/1992 is missing.

Long Duration, Selected Stations (extension of Fayez's dataset)

The file 45-present.prcp.tar.gz (10504299) contains the full records of all of Fayez's stations extended through 1995.

Short Duration, All Stations

The file 79-present.prcp.tar.gz (5449314) contains records for all reliable stations in the basin from 1979 through 1995.
